NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo was among the politicians-turned-models hitting the runway at Style Across the Aisle's bipartisan fashion show near City Hall on Wednesday evening.
The show, held on the eve of New York Fashion Week, was to support Witness to Mass Incarceration, which is “dedicated to fostering economic liberation for formerly incarcerated individuals (FIP), system-impacted persons, LGBTQ+ youth, women, and the migrant community.”
“They raised over $100,000, they said, and this goes to help young people start a new life, a new career, an apprenticeship, training as a designer,” Cuomo said. “It was a good night. It was a fun night”
“I practiced the walk for weeks—weeks,” the former governor told 1010 WINS. “And the turn—the turn is the trick.”
Among those watching on was Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa. The Guardian Angels founder couldn’t help but notice challenger Cuomo strutting his stuff as a “fashionista for one night.”
“The only place he ever walks is out in the Hamptons,” Sliwa said. “He needs to walk where I walk—in the subways, through the cars and in the streets.”
Also hitting the runway was former Gov. David Paterson, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Council Member Gale Brewer and NYPD Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Kaz Daughtry.
All the officials wore designers from the five boroughs. Cuomo donned a specially designed Bond & Bari suit, which had images of vintage New York City and Marilyn Monroe as the lining.
