NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Mayor Bill de Blasio on Wednesday announced when New York City's public beaches and pools will reopen for the summer.
The mayor said the city's eight beaches will open on Saturday, May 29, ahead of Memorial Day weekend. More information can be found here.
Forty-eight of the city's public pools will open on Saturday, June 26, which is the day after the last day of school for students. More information can be found here.
"Last year, we had to delay the openings with public beaches, we had to limit the number of outdoor public pools. This year, we get to do what is great for the families of this city, the kids of this city—have them all open," de Blasio said.
The mayor said there will be coronavirus-related health and safety measures in place, including social distancing and mask requirements outside of the water.
"This summer, New York City's going to come alive," de Blasio said.
