NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for the owner of a dog after it was found dead, floating in the East River in Queens on Sunday.
According to a report from the New York Post, the dog was found with a bag over its head and its leash tied to a cinderblock.
At noon, officials got a 911 call about garbage floating in the water near the Throgs Neck Bridge, police sources told the outlet.
The NYPD Harbor Unit discovered the dog after they went out to retrieve what they thought was debris.
Officials are searching for the dog's owner.
The incident is currently under investigation as police determine whether the dog had an ID collar or a microchip.
