NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An infant girl died Wednesday after she was found unresponsive in a Bronx apartment—and police said she suffered skull fractures.

Officers responding to a 911 call found 1-month-old Hanniel Darkwah unresponsive in an apartment on Gerard Avenue, near E. 165th Street, in the Concourse section around 3 p.m.

EMS rushed the girl to BronxCare Health System, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the girl had no obvious signs of trauma when she was found in the apartment.

However, doctors later found she had skull fractures, the Daily News reported. The medical examiner will determine her cause of death.

The girl's 35-year-old mother is the person who called 911, and she is being questioned in the incident, according to the Daily News.

The girl's death has not been deemed a homicide, but has been deemed suspicious.
