NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Ghislaine Maxwell wants a judge to dismiss charges that she groomed Jeffrey Epstein’s victims before he sexually abused them in the mid-1990s, according to a report.
Maxwell’s attorneys on Monday filed papers claiming she cannot adequately defend herself against prosecutors’ allegations because they “carefully crafted” them to be vague, the Daily News reported.
“Ms. Maxwell is innocent and should not have to guess about what evidence the Government claims warrants her continual incarceration but stubbornly refuses to identify or disclose,” her attorney Jeffrey Pagliuca wrote, according to the outlet.
“Because there are no dates provided, other than a three-year period beginning (perhaps) 27 years in the past, Ms. Maxwell cannot properly investigate where she and other witnesses were when the alleged crime supposedly occurred,” he added.
The judge should throw out four of the six counts with which Maxwell has been charged, Pagliuca argued, according to the report.
Maxwell is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
