NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A New York City Correction Officer was charged Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting another officer in a Bronx parking lot for the city's jail barge, the Department of Investigation said Friday.

Richard WIlson, 57, faces charges for forcible touching, assault in the third degree, sexual abuse in the third degree and faces at most more than two years in prison if convicted on all counts.

The DOI said Wilson approached another correction officer's parked car inside a Vernon C. Bain Center parking lot in Aug. 2019 at around 7 p.m.

Wilson opened the officer's car door and forcibly kissed them as they tried to pull away, according to the criminal complaint. He then grabbed the victim by the hair and sexually assaulted them.

Wilson, who been an officer since 2002, has been suspended from work since his arrest. He was arraigned in court on Friday.

DOI Commissioner Margaret Garnett called Wilson's conduct disturbing in a statement on Friday.

"The charged conduct described in this criminal complaint is alarming, most especially because it involves a correction officer whose duty is to uphold the law not break it," Garnett said. "DOI commends the reporting of this conduct to authorities; and thanks DOC for its assistance and cooperation and the Bronx District Attorney's Office for their prosecution of the matter."
