NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Friday arrested a man accused of attacking an NYPD traffic agent and stealing his summons machine earlier this week in Queens, authorities announced.

Mark Garrido, 28, was charged with robbery and assault, authorities said.

The attack happened at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in front of 95-06 63rd Dr. in Rego Park, cops said.

According to officials, the victim, a 56-year-old NYPD traffic enforcement agent was on-duty and in uniform, performing his duties, when he was approached by the suspect.

The suspect then began having a verbal dispute with the agent regarding a summons that was being issued to his vehicle by the agent.

Following the verbal dispute, police say the suspect proceeded to strike the agent in the hand and forcibly stole his summons machine before fleeing in a white SUV with unknown plates, eastbound on Queens Boulevard.

The investigation remains ongoing.
