NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A driver struck an NYPD officer while fleeing a traffic stop in Brooklyn early Friday, prompting another officer to open fire before the driver fled the scene, police said.
The NYPD continued to search for the driver, who remained at large after the early morning hit-and-run and police-involved shooting in East New York.
Officers had pulled over a gray SUV at Hegeman and Van Siclen avenues around 12:45 a.m. for unknown reasons.

During the stop, the driver sped off and struck an officer's ankle.
A second officer at the scene discharged their service weapon before the driver got away, according to police.
Both officers were transported by EMS to an area hospital, where they were in stable condition.
As police were investigating at the scene hours later, a second driver slammed into a parked patrol car, the NYPD said.
It wasn't immediately clear if there were any injuries in that crash, or if anyone was taken into custody.
