NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested on Thursday after the remains of a woman were found inside an apartment bathtub in Harlem earlier this week, according to police.
Officers responded to a 911 call for a wellness check at 2272 Second Ave. on Tuesday. They found an unconscious and unresponsive woman with puncture wounds on her left torso and a neck laceration inside of the bathtub of the apartment.
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Melanie Woods, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner later ruled her death a homicide.
After investigating, police arrested and charged Candido Rodriguez, 51, believed to be Woods' former boyfriend, according to the New York Post.
Rodriguez was charged with first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, according to police reports.
