The 35-year-old woman was driving on W. 57th Street near 6th Avenue around 5:30 p.m. when the ice fell, hitting her in the head, authorities say.

Emergency responders took her to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she is in stable condition.

The piece that struck the driver wasn’t an isolated incident, according to 1010 WINS reporter Juliet Papa who was on the scene.

She described chunks of ice as big as five feet long crashing onto buses, cars and the street.

Police cordoned off the area until the FDNY declared it safe around 7 p.m.
