Family chases would-be carjacker from 72-year-old man’s Bronx driveway

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a suspect who was chased away by a family after he attempted to carjack a 72-year-old man in his Bronx driveway last weekend.

The suspect approached the 72-year-old man who was in his car in his driveway in the vicinity of Gleason Avenue and Theriot Avenue in Unionport at about 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

According to officials, the suspect placed his hand over the victim’s mouth and stole his car keys.

While attempting to remove the victim’s car, the suspect was stopped by the victim’s family.

The suspect fled the location on foot northbound on Theriot Avenue, officials said.

No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.
