NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The family of the woman allegedly killed by a jealous NYPD officer as part of a love triangle filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city for not confiscating the accused killer cop’s gun despite warning signs of mental instability.

Off-duty Officer Yvonne Wu, 31, faces murder charges for shooting her ex-girlfriend Jenny Li, 23, and her ex’s new girlfriend Jamie Liang, 24, at Li’s home in Bensonhurst on Oct. 13, 2021.

Li survived the gunshot, but Liang was fatally injured.

Liang’s father and Li filed suit against the NYPD on Monday, according to court documents obtained by the New York Post.

The lawsuit alleges the NYPD was aware Wu “was psychologically unfit and a danger to others, yet did not require her to give up possession of her service revolver.”

The plaintiffs filed notice for a $25 million lawsuit in January, the New York Daily News reported at the time.

“Our hearts go out to the families who suffered terribly from a tragedy that left one person dead and another seriously wounded,” a spokesman for the New York City Law Department told the Post. “The case is under investigation by both the office of the New York State Attorney General and NYPD.”

Wu has been in jail since the shooting, and the NYPD suspended her without pay.

She pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder charges in November.
