NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An FDNY emergency medical technician has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and weapon possession in connection with the shooting of a man in Queens, prosecutors announced Thursday.
Isaiah Keller, 26, was arraigned on a criminal complaint charging him with attempted murder, two counts of assault, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
Court documents state that Keller was captured on surveillance footage arriving in Astoria around 2:51 a.m. and walking through the neighborhood on Aug. 31. At approximately 3:55 a.m., Keller allegedly approached 36-year-old Eric Connor from behind, interacted with him, and then pulled out a gun, firing twice.
Connor was struck in the left thigh and right foot before Keller fled the scene, prosecutors said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his femur. He continues to receive medical treatment for his injuries.
The two men did not know each other, prosecutors said.
If convicted of the top charge, Keller faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
