William Klobus was reportedly inspecting the mall on Oct. 3 when he had a heart attack and collapsed.

The octogenarian inspector, who joined the FDNY 11 years ago at the age of 70, died soon after, the union told the New York Daily News.

Klobus was a member of Local 2507, the FDNY union that represents inspectors and emergency medical personnel.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam, according to officials.

A memorial service for the fallen inspector should take place later this week, though an exact date has not yet been made public.
