NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A fire early Saturday at an Upper West Side senior housing building left one man dead, according to the FDNY.
Fire officials responded to 111 West 71st St. at about 7:30 a.m. after flames broke out on the building's 10th floor. Known as Hargrave House, the building provides subsidized housing for people ages 62 and up.


Twenty units of 78 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene, and the fire at the 12-story, 112-unit building was soon contained, the FDNY said.
The victim was not immediately identified. No other residents or responders were injured in the fire, authorities said.
Fire marshals will investigate the cause of the blaze.
