NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An FDNY firefighter was arrested on Staten Island's South Shore Tuesday night in a domestic violence incident — his second arrest for such a crime in three years, according to police.
Firefighter Thomas Kartelias, 37, got into a physical altercation with his wife and attempted to hit her — but actually struck his mother instead, according to police.
Kartelias was arrested around 8:20 p.m. and faces charges for assault, attempted assault, and two counts of harassment, police said.
Back in 2018, Kartelias was reportedly arrested on similar charges after he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend, the Staten Island Advance reported at the time.
Pending a review of arrest paperwork, Kartelias faces discipline up to and including suspension, according to an FDNY spokesperson.
