
MAYS LANDING, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A former high school teacher from a vocational school in Mays Landing was arrested Tuesday after an investigation into inappropriate sexual conduct with students, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Peter Thompson, a 51-year-old who worked as a teacher at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology, allegedly behaved inappropriately with multiple students.
The prosecutor’s office did not did not elaborate on the specifics of Thompson’s behavior.
School officials notified police of Thompson’s alleged misconduct in early 2022 after a student approached faculty about his behavior.
The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office found multiple credible complaints from students during the investigation.
Thompson faces charges for endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact and official misconduct.
He’s being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility ahead of his detention hearing.
It’s not clear when Thompson stopped working for the school, but he was not working there at the time of his arrest.
