NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Fox News unveiled a “flameproof” Christmas tree in Midtown Manhattan on Monday night, a year an arsonist climbed the 2021 tree and set it on fire.

Members of the FDNY and NYPD lit up the 50-foot-tall tree in Fox Square outside the News Corp. Building on Sixth Avenue.

Christmas carolers and Cardinal Timothy Dolan were among those who joined the celebration, as were Fox News personalities like Sean Hannity, Janice Dean and Kellyanne Conway.

This year’s tree has 12,000 ornaments and 340,000 lights. It’s also “made of flameproof metal,” a source told the New York Post, which is owned by News Corp.

Last year, a homeless man scaled the Fox News tree and set it on fire with a piece of burning cardboard.

The flames raged and spread to nearby decorations before the FDNY was able to extinguish the fire.

A new tree was erected just two days later.

The suspect, Craig Tamanaha, made a court appearance in June and is reportedly still out on bail. He allegedly said at the time he’d been “thinking about lighting the tree on fire all day.”

The Fox News tree is just a couple of blocks from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, where the tree lighting is scheduled for Nov. 30.
