NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a teen girl was killed and another man injured in a motorcycle collision early Monday in Queens, authorities said.

Just after midnight police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision on the Cross Island Parkway and Whitestone Expressway in Whitestone, officials said.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad a 29-year-old driver of a 2002 Honda motorcycle was travelling northbound on the Cross Island Parkway at an apparent high rate of speed and failed to navigate the curve of the roadway while attempting to exit onto the southbound Whitestone Expressway.

The motorcycle then struck a curb, causing the operator to lose control of the vehicle and fall on its' right side, cops said.

Alyssa Henley, 17, the rear passenger, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained severe head injuries, police said.

EMS pronounced Henley dead on scene.

The motorcycle driver was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
