NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Rescuers revived a 12-year-old girl after she almost drowned at a city pool in Brooklyn on Sunday, according to a report.

The girl was swimming at the Red Hook Pool with family members around 5:30 p.m. when she passed out, the Daily News reported.

"Her sister was the closest one to her. She turns around and sees her floating," the girl's cousin told the outlet. "Her head was down, she couldn't pick her up, and she almost fell. We helped her pick her up, and her lips were purple."

The girl, who previously survived a brain tumor, "had a tracheotomy, which creates an opening through the neck into the windpipe," the outlet noted. Her relatives told the outlet they believe pool water managed to pass through the opening into her lungs.

After relatives got the girl out of the pool, her father and the pool's lifeguards reportedly worked to revive her until emergency responders arrived.

She was taken to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest, but regained consciousness when she arrived there, the outlet reported. As of Sunday night, she was in stable condition, according to the outlet.
