NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A group of attackers repeatedly punched a 14-year-old boy in the face before stabbing a man who rushed to his aid, the NYPD said Wednesday.
The boy was in front of an apartment building near East 10th Street and the FDR Drive in Manhattan around 5 p.m. on March 8 when he got into a dispute with six males of unknown ages, police said.
At some point during the dispute, the six started punching the boy in the face, the NYPD said.
When a 23-year-old man tried to help the boy, one of the boy's attackers stabbed him once in the lower back, police said.
The attack left the boy with a swollen face, but he refused medical attention at the scene, the NYPD said. The 23-year-old man was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said
Police are now searching for the six people involved in the attacks.
