NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A gunman who allegedly fired at NYPD officers outside a cell phone store in the Bronx last week has been arrested, police said.
Calvin Peterkin, 39, of Crotona Park East, was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a police officer, two counts of criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing on Monday, the NYPD said.
Several NYPD officers responded to a Boost Mobile store on East 174th Street in Crotona Park East around 6:20 p.m. on May 19 after Peterkin got into an argument with the store’s employees, police said.
At some point during the dispute, Peterkin pulled out a gun and threatened the employees, the NYPD said.
Peterkin then left the store and fired at responding officers outside the outpost, two of whom returned his fire, police said.
Neither Peterkin nor the officers were hit by the bullets, the NYPD said. He fled on foot after the incident, leaving a semi-automatic handgun underneath a vehicle parked nearby, police said.
Peterkin’s attorney information wasn’t immediately available Tuesday.
