Gunman sought in death of man, 65, during robbery in Harlem

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD on Thursday released video of a gunman sought in the death of a man who was shot in the chest during a robbery in Harlem Wednesday morning, authorities said.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a man shot at West 142nd Street and Lenox Avenue.


Upon arrival, officers observed 65-year-old Anthony Williams with a gunshot wound to the chest.

According to officials, Williams was in front of 639 Lenox Avenue when the suspect approached him and stole his property.

When the victim attempted to confront the individual to recover his property, a struggle ensued and the suspect discharged his firearm, striking the victim in the chest.

The suspect then fled in a black Nissan Maxima southbound on Lenox Avenue to parts unknown.

He was transported by to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

The gunman was last seen wearing a gray Nike hooded sweatshirt, black facemask, black jeans, and black sneakers.

There have been no arrests made and an investigation remains ongoing.
