NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — "No soup for you" has taken on a near-permanent meaning at the chain Hale and Hearty, which has closed all of its stores after two decades in business.

The soup and sandwich franchise has closed all 16 locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn and on Long Island without warning, the New York Post reported.
Some included high-traffic areas like Chelsea Market, Grand Central Terminal and Rockefeller Center among its Manhattan locations.
It comes as locations sported signs announcing they were hiring. It is unclear, however, if the eatery is out of business for good, with signs also calling the closures "temporary."
Just a few years ago, the chain had 21 locations, while a Lower Manhattan branch was reportedly sued by food vendor Chefs Warehouse for nearly $160,000 in unpaid invoices and by its landlord for $400,000 in unpaid rent.
1010 WINS reached out to the chain for comment.
