Members of 1199SEIU and CWA1168 organized a nationwide walkout, as they observed 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence for the amount of time the Minneapolis cop knelt on Floyd’s neck.

"The purpose was for both unions to join together to support the current movement going on with the racial injustice and social injustice, and just show that we often work together in this time and do something in honor of the people that have lost their lives," said Charmaine Bowman, area vice president of CWA1168.

"Being on my knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds - it seemed like a lifetime," said Williams. "I can imagine what he was going through with that knee on his neck and struggling to breathe for that long period of time.

"I think it's very important, and it's long overdue," Williams continued, regarding the organized walkout. "You stand for one, you stand for all...Silence is just that - silence."
