HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH 2024: NYC Calendar of events

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off its month-long celebration on Sept. 15, and there are a plethora of activities organized by the city and other well-known city institutions! Sept. 15 is a significant day that celebrates the independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Here are highlights from throughout the month:

'VIVA! BROADWAY: ayer, hoy y mañana'

An exhibition celebrating Latiné and Hispanic heritage on Broadway, created exclusively for the Museum of Broadway.

Virtual Book Club: Love in the Time of Cholera
Sept. 17, 8 - 9 p.m.

Celebrate love and literature during Hispanic Heritage Month with the virtual book club to discuss Gabriel García Márquez's masterpiece, "Love in the Time of Cholera".

The BLC Teen Center celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by making maracas, The ever-present musical instrument in Latin American music whose roots stretch far back to pre-Columbian past.

Mets' Hispanic Heritage Night

Sept. 19, 5 p.m.

In honor of Roberto Clemente Day, the New York Mets will host Hispanic Heritage Night. Festivities include a special pre-game ceremony honoring Francisco Lindor as the Mets 2024 Roberto Clemente Award nominee. Throughout the game, fans can enjoy music throughout the night from DJ Mega Jay and proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit the Tacombi Foundation.

Family Day: Baila! Canta! Celebra!

Fiesta on the Hudson

Learn the basic steps and traditions of dances like salsa and cha-cha. Dance the night away while enjoying live music on the Great Lawn overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. As the sun sets, the party continues indoors.

Annual Panamanian Day Parade

The world's largest Panamanian parade outside of the Republic of Panama! The celebration honors the country's culture, tradition, and folklore with beautiful dancing, traditional music, and more.

Hispanic Day Parade 2024

Oct. 13, 10 a.m.

This parade takes place each year during Hispanic Heritage Month and takes place on Fifth Avenue. There are delegations from from 21 Spanish-speaking countries that show their music, cultural traditions and folklore.
