NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A hit-and-run driver was arrested less than a day after he allegedly sped through a Queens intersection and crashed into two other cars, killing his 23-year-old passenger, the NYPD said Thursday.
Harpreet Singh, 20, of Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving while intoxicated and driving without a license, police said.
Police say Singh was speeding east on Atlantic Avenue in Richmond Hill with three passengers in his Honda Accord around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday when he drove through the intersection at 111th Street and hit a Ford F-150 truck.
Singh kept traveling east on Atlantic Avenue before crashing into a parked Mercedes-Benz with a 65-year-old driver inside, the NYPD said.
He fled the scene on foot after the crash, police said. One of his passengers, a 23-year-old man who suffered severe head trauma, was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, the NYPD said.
Police didn't immediately release the man's name.
Singh's two other passengers and the Mercedes Benz driver were hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
The 49-year-old Ford F-150 truck driver refused medical attention at the scene, the NYPD said.
Singh's attorney information wasn't immediately available on Thursday. An investigation is ongoing.
