NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) —The husband of the Bronx daycare owner where a 1-year-old boy died and three other children were sickened from suspected fentanyl exposure was arrested on Tuesday after a weeks-long manhunt, according to law enforcement sources.
Police had suspected that Felix Herrera Garcia, the husband, had fled the country, and that is exactly where he was found.
The DEA tracked Garcia to Sinaloa, Mexico, after a manhunt that lasted more than a week.
He was allegedly seen running out of the daycare, according to surveillance images.
This is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with the poisonings, which left infant Nicholas Dominici dead at Divino Nino Daycare on Sept. 15.
Grei Mendez, the daycare's owner; Carlisto Acevedo Brito, a tenant renting a room from the daycare owner; and Renny Antonio Parra Paredes were all arrested this month.
The suspect, Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38, was charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics in connection with the poisonings, which left infant Nicholas Dominici dead at Divino Nino Daycare on Sept. 15.
Brito, 41, and Mendez, 36, are now facing 11 charges, including murder, manslaughter, and assault.
