NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — In less than two weeks, school will be back in session. As COVID-19 cases continue to climb all over the country, one of the hottest classroom topics is whether or not schools are prepared to operate at full capacity — safely.
Here in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio seems to think so. While his decision to table remote learning and enforce vaccine mandates for school staff was made with good intentions, many parents are still worried for their children.
And while there are also many parents who are ready to send their kids back, the question remains: Are schools ready?
If not, we could have an epidemic of superspreader events everywhere.
In this week's 1010 WINS IN DEPTH Podcast, our very own Al Jones speaks with Queens Councilman Donovan Richards. A father himself, Richards believes that a remote option should be available. We also speak to pediatric surgeon Dr. Susannah Hill, whose husband also happens to be a teacher. This issue impacts her from a variety of angles.
