Innocent bystander shot in hand during Upper East Side subway dispute

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — An innocent bystander was shot in the hand early Sunday morning when an argument broke out on an Upper East Side subway train, according to the NYPD.

The shooting happened at about 2:30 a.m. after an altercation erupted on the 4-line train as it pulled up to the 86th Street subway station near Lexington Avenue.

Amid the argument, someone pulled out a gun and began to fire. A 31-year-old man was shot in the left hand and was rushed to an area hospital in stable condition.

The shooter rushed off the train at the station and fled in an unknown direction.

There have been no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
