NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A NYPD Internal Affairs sergeant was arrested for allegedly driving to work drunk late Wednesday afternoon.

Sgt. Braulio Aponte was arrested for a first-offense DWI charge at 5:18 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the NYPD.

Aponte, 40, entered the 114th Precinct stationhouse in Astoria, Queens drunk. Internal Affairs was notified and he admitted to driving to work, prompting his arrest, according to a report by the Daily News.

It is unclear if Aponte has an office in the 114th Precinct stationhouse or he was on an investigation for the Internal Affairs Bureau, which investigates misconduct and corruption in the department.

The sergeant has been with the Internal Affairs Bureau since last month and with the NYPD for 13 years.

Aponte was suspended without pay, per the Daily News.
