NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — JPMorgan Chase & Co. reportedly told staff Tuesday that it is banning all unvaccinated workers and guests from entering the bank’s Manhattan offices.

The bank said its nine offices in Manhattan, including the headquarters on Madison Avenue, will be “vaccinated only” workplaces, according to the New York Post.
According to the report, the “vaccinated only” offices are located at: 237 Park Ave., 245 Park Ave., 277 Park Ave., 28 Liberty St., 383 Madison Ave., 390 Madison Ave., 410 Madison Ave., 4 New York Plaza and 5 Manhattan West.
The bank reportedly made the decision to keep masking rules relaxed while complying with New York’s new policy requiring everyone wear masks in indoor settings at businesses that do not already have a vaccine requirement in place.
“All of the above locations will now follow relaxed mask guidelines, which only require masks be worn when walking through lobbies, riding in elevators and in cafés when not eating,” the memo obtained by the Post said.
The memo also added that the company has taken the step to ban unvaccinated people from the offices because there are already “very high rates of vaccination” among employees, and it seemed “unfair” to require unvaccinated staff always wear a mask.
The bank is still urging all unvaccinated staff get their COVID-19 immunization as soon as possible, according to the Post.
The move by JPMorgan comes roughly two months after it decided to restrict business travel for all U.S. employees who are unvaccinated, or have not disclosed their vaccination status.
When that decision was made, the bank also said it would be mandating that unvaccinated staff be tested twice a week and would need to contribute a higher percentage of their pay towards medical insurance to account for testing expenses.
It remains unclear how long unvaccinated staff and guests will now be banned from JPMorgan’s Manhattan offices, but Gov. Kathy Hochul’s mask mandate is set to expire on Jan. 15, 2022.
