NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Nassau County officials are investigating a case of infant botulism potentially linked to the recently recalled ByHeart powdered infant formula.

The baby is currently in stable condition at the hospital, authorities said.

Dr. Sharon Nachman of Stony Brook Medicine notes that recovery from botulism take weeks and advises parents to be vigilant. A weak cry, poor feeding, and a lack of interaction are among the symptoms. Symptoms may not appear for up to 30 days after consumption.

Dr. Nachman estimates that about 1% of babies nationwide were consuming this formula and urges any parents whose baby was taking the recalled product to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.
