UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 51-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old boy walking on a Long Island street earlier this week, authorities said.
Nelson Acevedo was charged with attempted kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to police, on Monday, April 13, Acevedo approached the child near the intersection of Chester Street and Front Street in Uniondale and "offered him money, in an attempt to lure him into a nearby home."
When the boy refused and tried to leave, Acevedo "forcibly grabbed the victim’s wrist," causing the child to fear for his safety, officials said.
The boy managed to break free and get away. Police said he wasn’t physically injured.
Acevedo was arrested at his residence on Wednesday.
