WANTED FOR MURDER: Long Island 23-year-old sought in fatal stabbing of his father

ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Suffolk County Police continue their search on Monday for a 23-year-old man accused of stabbing his father to death in his Long Island home early Saturday morning, police said.

Matthew Zoll is wanted for the murder of his father, 61-year-old Joseph Zoll, in his own home at 30 Quail Rd. in Rocky Point.

Officers responded to the location at about 1:25 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a 911 call reporting the stabbing and found Joseph Zoll injured. He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police described Matthew Zoll as being 6 feet 1 inch tall, 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a scar under his left eye and is not believed to have a vehicle.

The suspect does not have a car and is believed to be traveling on foot. Local residents told 1010 WINS that he may be in a nearby trail.

Authorities released photos of Matthew Zoll on Sunday afternoon to help in his apprehension.

The motive for the murder is not yet clear.
