NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a couple of thieves who they say grabbed a MacBook from right under the arm of a man on a Chelsea street and drove off with it.

The NYPD released images Monday showing the two suspects wanted in the Nov. 3 theft on West 16th Street, between Seventh and Eighth avenues.

The 49-year-old victim was walking down the street at 2:30 p.m. when one of the suspects crept up behind him and snatched a MacBook from under his arm, police said.

The thief and his accomplice then hopped on a moped and fled eastbound toward Seventh Avenue with the stolen laptop, according to police.

The victim was not injured in the theft, police said.

The number of moped-involved crimes has exploded over the past few years, the NYPD has repeatedly warned this year. There’s been a more than 300% increase in the robberies since 2023, made up of “hundreds and hundreds of incidents,” officials said over the summer.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
