NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Zohran Mamdani will host a Twitch series called "Talk With The People"—a show that City Hall says is the first regularly recurring, interactive cross-platform stream by an elected official in the U.S.

The series will stream on Twitch, a platform popular with videogamers, and simulcast across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, Bluesky and podcast platforms, the mayor’s office said Thursday.

The show is inspired by former Mayor Fiorello La Guardia's famous weekly radio program, “Talk to the People,” which aired Sundays from 1942 to 1945. It's unclear how frequently Mamdani's show will air.

City Hall said the goal of the series is to meet New Yorkers "where they already are" and to make city government more accessible, transparent and responsive. Mamdani plans to field audience questions in real-time.

In a statement, Mamdani said, "By hosting the country’s first recurring cross-platform stream led by an elected official, where New Yorkers can ask questions live on Twitch, we’re opening up a new conversation between government and the people it serves, especially younger generations who have too often been ignored."

The first show will air at 4 p.m. Thursday. Viewers can submit questions through the Twitch Stream at twitch.tv/nyc_mayor.
