Man, 19, fatally shot in front of Ridgewood elementary schoolyard; group sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a group of suspects in connection to the shooting death of a 19-year-man outside a Queens elementary schoolyard Tuesday evening.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a man shot in front of the 1726 George St. in Ridgewood, right near P.S. 77.

Upon arrival, officers observed Kevin Hernandez with a gunshot wound to the torso.

EMS transported Hernandez to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police are searching for a group of males who fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
