NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was arrested after a pedestrian attempting to cross a Bronx street was struck by two cars in a fatal hit-and-run early Sunday, authorities said.
Just after 4 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of White Plains Road and Archer Street in Parkchester.
Further investigation by NYPD's Collison Investigation Squad determined a 22-year-old man was crossing White Plains Road west to east mid-block, when he was struck by a 24-year-old man driving a 2019 Mercedes Benz traveling southbound on White Plains Road.
The pedestrian was thrown into the northbound lanes of White Plains Road, where he was then struck by a 25-year-old man driving a 2017 BMW traveling northbound.
EMS transported the pedestrian to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.
Adam Vilajeti, the driver of the second vehicle was charged with leaving scene of an incident, operating a vehicle BAC .08 of 1% and driving while intoxicated.
The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
