Man, 50, fatally shot in chest in Brooklyn, gunman at large: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a gunman after a 50-year-old man was shot and killed in Brooklyn Monday night, authorities said.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a man shot in front of 37 New Lots Ave. in Brownsville, officials said.

Upon arrival, officers observed Reginald Thawney lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Daily News, Thawney brandished a screwdriver as he and another man were in a dispute. The other man then pulled a gun and opened fire on him.

There have been no arrests made and an investigation remains ongoing.
