Man, 56, fatally shot in chest outside Bronx deli

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 56-year-old man was shot and killed outside a deli in the Bronx on Monday night, and police are searching for the gunman.

Police responded to 717 East 187 St. in the Belmont section at about 6:20 p.m. and discovered the victim unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Medics transported the man to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, officials said.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

The 48th Precinct saw one murder in all of 2024, while Monday’s shooting marks the second in 2025, according to the most recent NYPD data.
