
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 56-year-old man was fatally struck by an ambulance in the Bronx early Sunday morning, police said.
Cops said officers responded to the incident at 1:22 a.m. to the 911 call of a pedestrian struck. At the scene, cops found an unconscious and unresponsive 56-year-old lying on the road.
He was transported to North Central Bronx Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation determined that as the victim crossed East Gun Hill Road outside the crosswalk, he was struck by an ambulance that made a left turn on the roadway after traveling northbound on Dekalb Avenue.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending proper family notification.
An investigation remains ongoing.
