NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 56-year-old man was punched in the face on a Queens subway platform on Monday, officials said.
According to police, the victim was on the R platform at Queens Plaza at around 9:15 a.m. when a stranger suddenly punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.
The victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was treated for pain and a cut on his mouth, officials said.
His attacker remains at large, authorities said.
NYPD officials have been sent to patrol the subways as the city has seen a recent uptick in subway attacks.
