Man, 60, beaten with metal pipe for not giving attacker cash on East Village street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 60-year-old man was beaten with a metal pipe on an East Village street by a man who’d asked him for money, police said.

The NYPD released photos Friday of a suspect in the broad-daylight attack from Oct. 18.

The victim was at East 13th Street and First Avenue at 2:30 p.m. when his attacker asked him for cash, according to police.

The victim said he didn’t have any money, prompting the stranger to pull a metal pipe from his backpack and bash him in the head with it, police said.

The victim suffered a laceration to the back of the head and was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen headed northbound on First Avenue, police said.
