Man, 60, fights off would-be thief on Queens street: NYPD

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police released a photo on Tuesday of a man they are looking to identify in connection to an attempted robbery in Queens that occurred last month, authorities said.

The incident happened at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, as a 60-year-old man was walking in front of 37-06 102nd Street in the North Corona neighborhood, authorities said.


According to officials, the victim was approached from behind by the suspect who then grabbed him by the neck and began to attempt to remove his backpack.

The victim was able to fight off the would-be thief who then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The individual is described as a male approximately 6'0" tall, with a light complexion, thin build, with black hair. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue pants.
