Man, 63, on scooter dies in collision with parked car on Bronx street: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD's Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the fatal collision of a 63-year-old man riding a scooter on a Bronx street on Monday night.

At approximately 10 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a gas-powered scooter in the vicinity of East 241st Street and Richardson Avenue in Wakefield.

Upon arrival, responding officers encountered a 63-year-old man who was unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with trauma to the head.

EMS transported the man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation determined that the 63-year-old man was traveling on a scooter along Richardson Avenue, in the vicinity of 241st Street, when he collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied red 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander.

The victim was ejected from the scooter as a result of the collision, officials said.

An investigation remains ongoing.
