NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD on Thursday released surveillance video of an individual who police say choked a 70-year-old man inside a Brooklyn subway station, shoved him toward the tracks and stole $100 earlier this week.
Police said the man approached the victim from behind inside the Nevins Street 2/3/4/5 subway station at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, placing him in a chokehold and brandishing a knife as he demanded his property.
The pair fought, knocking the victim to the ground. Authorities said the man then attempted to shove the man onto the train tracks, but the victim threw his wallet.
The man then stole $100 and threw the victim's wallet on the floor, police said. He then fled onto the street in an unknown direction.
The NYPD said the man is 20 to 25 years old, 6'0" to 6'2", 180 to 200lbs and was last seen wearing a white shirt, dark-colored sweatpants and multi-colored sneakers.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
