NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was shot by officers and is in critical condition after he displayed a weapon near an NYPD precinct house in Queens on Tuesday night, police said.
The man, in his 70s, pulled out a gun near the 111th Precinct in Bayside just before 7 p.m. The NYPD is asking the public to avoid the intersection of 215th Street and Northern Boulevard as they investigate.

It is unclear where the man was shot or how many times he was struck, but authorities said that the man was transported to an area hospital.
More details will be revealed at an NYPD press conference scheduled for 9:15 p.m., a police spokesperson said. Chief of Patrol Phillip Rivera will be in attendance.
This is a developing story.
