NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck Wednesday in a collision on Staten Island.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck opposite of 233 Martling Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 75-year-old man lying on the roadway unconscious and unresponsive.
EMS transported the victim to Richmond University Medical Canter, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
A preliminary investigation determined that as the victim was crossing the street, north to south, he was struck by an orange 2018 Subaru Crosstrek that was traveling eastbound on Martling Avenue.
The operator of the Subaru pulled over and remained on the scene after realizing the victim had been struck, police said.
The investigation is ongoing by the New York City Police Department's Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad.
