NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An 82-year-old man was killed after being struck by a school bus while crossing the street on the east side of Manhattan on Friday afternoon.

The victim, Fahri Boumechal, was crossing East 37th Street and 2nd Avenue when he was hit by a small school bus operated by a 40-year-old driver just before noon, authorities said.
Officers responded to the area after 911 calls were made of a pedestrian hit. They found Boumechal unconscious and unresponsive, police said.
Boumechal was transported to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The school bus driver remained on the scene. There was another adult passenger in the bus at the time and no children on board.
The investigation remains ongoing but officials said there doesn’t appear to be any criminality involved.
